The Orange Foundation issues study grants to 16 young female students from lower income backgrounds, mentored by the Frateli foundation

Paris, November 18, 2008
  • To complement its corporate philantropy initiatives in favour of female education, from autumn 2008 the Orange Foundation has decided to support sixteen young female students in France who are faving difficulty in financing their higher education.
  • This financial support complements individual mentoring by a young experienced professional, set up and monitored by the Frateli organisation.
The Orange Foundation study grants are aimed at young women who have achieved very good academic results in their secondary education and show great motivation for their higher education and professional career.

For Jennifer, in 2nd year of preparatory biology classes to become a medical engineer, the grant “relieves my financial worries and allows me to pay for my food and lodgings. It also helps me to not be an additional financial burden on my parents, and to get along all by myself.”

To help these young women in France is part of the Orange Foundation corporate philantropy in favour of female education in countries where the Orange France Télécom Group is present (especially in Africa, Asia and the Middle-East). First and foremost, it helps these students to continue to develop their potential with mentoring from young attentive professionals thanks to the Frateli organisation mentoring programme.
Frateli’s  mentoring aims at advising the student on the best methods and organisation to succeed in their path, to support them and give them confidence in periods of acute stress, and to assist them in their personal career path – in particular to find an internship, job or to make contacts within the business. The Frateli mentoring has been designed without time limits and aims at the student’s professional integration.

For Jennifer, whose mentor works in organic agriculture, mentoring is appreciated as a true moral support mechanism: “Each time I see my mentor I gain extra courage. She supports me and helps me to see more clearly when things are not working out. Her career impresses me and encourages me to do as well as she has”.
